This calculator creates an approximate lead-free Maroger-style medium from oil, resin varnish, and solvent. It is intended to give oil paint more body, gloss, and leveling than oil alone.

Black oil or stand oil

Mastic or damar varnish

Solvent
Loosens the mixture and improves handling. Keep it low when you want a thicker medium.
